Business case for Microsoft technology

We chose to specialize in Microsoft technology for three reasons.

• To maximize our value to our clients. Our clients have a right to expect that we will be truly knowledgeable and proficient. Given the complexity of Web and Database technology, that requires specialization. Instead of being a jack-of-all-trades, we chose to be a master of Microsoft database and Web technology.
• To maximize the value of the product that we deliver to our clients. When we build you a Web/Database system, it becomes an asset of your company, with its own valuation in a sale or merger. If it does e-commerce, it may be a critical asset. Basing your system on Microsoft Windows instead of UNIX technology increases the value of that asset.
• UNIX (the other technical option) is not a product; it is a family of products manufactured by different vendors. Microsoft has sold vastly more software than has any UNIX vendor. Consequently, its support, and product development budgets are much larger than are those of its competitors. Microsoft’s network of third party, product developers, trainers, and trained professionals is enormous. Therefore, with a Microsoft infrastructure you can be confident that the basic components (Web Server, Database Management System, and software tools) will increase in value as Microsoft continues to improve them and you will always be able to get support from the vendor and from a large network of trained developers, and maintenance personnel.
  To make it easy for our clients to integrate their Web/Database system with their Microsoft Office products. Nearly all the content that you might want to publish on you Web site, starts life as a Microsoft Word document, a PowerPoint slide, an Excel spreadsheet, or an Access database. In most cases, your clients will communicate with you via your Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express e-mail system. By basing our Web/Database systems on Microsoft products, we ensure that integrating your Office, desktop systems with your Web/Database systems is as easy as it can be and will remain easy through subsequent improvements in the software.
